a couple of things: the anthropological stuff was really interesting, it reminded me of some dada stuff that was questionable, like are they commenting on the imperialist nature of anthropology or are they just really a part of that imperialism?
in this case, since the film uses anthropological images as well as, oh, everything else under the sun, i think it is safe to say that those images are in line with a criticism of westernization more than just following suit.
i think that this film is extremely powerful and really verifies the emotional impact that sound can possess when related to the image.
also, after watching that, i want to think reallll hard about my next art projects. this film did a lot of things and i think next time i go into a project i should also consider the affect that it has not just on my scarring and healing, but that of the audience.
huh, seems trite that it takes a bizarre electro video to make theatre theorist student think that affect for the viewer is just as important as the affect for the performer.
damn.
